Graveside service for Virginia Estelle Pope Morton, age 91, of Decatur, will be Tuesday, February 26, 2013, 2:00 p.m., at Chattanooga Memorial Cemetery, Chattanooga, TN.  The family will receive friends on Monday, February 25, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home, Decatur, AL.
Mrs. Morton, who died Thursday, February 21, 2013, at her residence, was born February 2, 1922, in Chattanooga, TN, to Charlie Anderson Pope and Pearl Estelle Holderby Pope.  She was a Christian since childhood and was always a generous person who regularly gave to her church, Westmeade Baptist, and other charities.  Mrs. Morton had skill in several arts and crafts, and enjoyed sharing her knowledge with others.  She had done extensive research on her family and that of her husband, John Morton.  Her research led to her acceptance into the Daughters of the American Revolution and The United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She is survived by two daughters, Jackie McGuire (James) of Trinity, and Alice Livingston (David) of Decatur; three grandchildren, Wes Livingston, Richard McGuire, and Leanne Arnold; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to the Salvation Army.
