Virginia “Doodle” Thorn, 86, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023 at her residence. She was born in Belmont, MS to Virgil and Phoebe Tressie Hamm Collier. She was a member of Golden Central Baptist Church and had worked at Blue Bell, Wrangler and H.I.S.
Funeral services will be Sunday, December 3, 3:30 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Jackie Hastings officiating. Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by three children, Rex Thorn (Terri), Jerry “Chubby” Thorn (Vicki) and Tonya Emerson (Tony); grandchildren, Kim Brown (Matt), Lacey Pharr (Jonathan), Maegan Farris (Trey), Matthew Thorn, Courtney Aycock, Hunter Emerson and Dalton Emerson and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade “Goodsie” Thorn; her parents; son, Ray Thorn and a half-brother, Dwight Ruple.
Pallbearers will be Donald Gene Ray, Byron Duncan, Gary Lindsey, Dale Barron, Richard McKinney and Billy Chism.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 3, 12:30-3:30 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
