Virgil Wayne Newell, age 70, Florence, Alabama passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at UAB Hospital, Birmingham, AL.
The visitation will be from 12-2 pm Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Akins Funeral Home, Russellville, AL prior to the 2 pm funeral service in the funeral home chapel with Bro. John McCullar officiating. Interment will be in Blue Springs Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Annie Newell; parents, Samuel & Nettie Baker Newell; brothers, James Arles Newell & Jimmy Newell.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Vasilakos; children, Virgil Newell, Jr., Lori Spirno; step children, Micheala Stamson, Karen Cole; siblings, Inez Pierce, Starland Newell, RL Newell, Floyd Newell, Freeman Pete Newell, Martha Tuck, Hulon Newell, Clinton Newell, Byron Newell; several grandchildren; a host of nieces & nephews.
