Virgil Harwell, 93 of Athens passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at Limestone Health Facility. He lived in Huntsville for many years until moving to Limestone Manor. He was born March 29, 1923 in Tennessee. He grew up in Pulaski, Tennessee.
He served in the United States Navy during WWII and retired from the Arsenal.
A graveside funeral will be Sunday, July 17 at 2:00 at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, with David Harwell officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, July 16 5-7p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral home.
Preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Harwell of Pulaski, TN; Gloria Harwell (wife), and Betty Harwell (wife).
Survived by one nephew, Donnie Helums, wife Leanne, great niece and great nephew, Katie Lee and Daniel Helums; and two cousins, David Harwell and Bill Harwell.
