Mrs. Violet Nell Fuson Young, age 95, of McMinnville, TN, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday August 28, 2024. She was born August 25, 1929, in Liberty, TN, and was raised in Smithville, TN. Nell married her husband of 49 years on November 25, 1950 and raised a wonderful family. Mrs. Young was a member of Gath Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She also worked and retired from Genesco after more than 30 years.
Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her father and mother, John J. Fuson and Pairalee Robinson Fuson, husband Davis Ramsey Young, brother Jim (Claira) Fuson, sister Callie (VL) Wilson, brother-in-law Carson Young, and son Eddie Young.
Mrs. Young is survived by her sister Robbie Young, son Danny (Gail) Young, daughter Melinda (Terry) Raper, grandchildren Misty Shehane, Heather (Bryan) Smith, Josh Young, John Cody (Raven) Young, Terrence (Kayla) Raper, Mitchell (Kimberly) Raper, Cody (Anastasia) Raper, 16 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, at McMinnville Funeral Home with visitation on Friday from 10:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. Brother Danny Barnes and Brother Ray Gilder to officiate. Burial at Dekalb Memorial Gardens in Smithville, TN.
In lieu of flowers Mrs. Young’s family requests contributions be made to the McMinnville/ Warren County Meals on Wheels in her memory.
