Mrs. Viola BookerMrs. Viola J. Booker (also known as “Cookie”) was born to the late Jerry and Virginia Jamar on December 26, 1936, in Belle Mina, Alabama. Preceding her in eternal rest were her loving husband Willie Booker Jr.; sister Ethel May Matthews; brothers: Willie Jamar, Ivan Jamar, Jerry Wayne Jamar and David Lee Jamar; children: Angela V. Claxton, Melony G. Jamar, James A. Jamar, Kenneth W. Jamar and Markita Johnson.

Viola confessed hope and devotion to Christ under the leadership of Rev. W.E. Owes of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in the eighties.

Mother Booker is survived by four loving sons: Barry Booker of Dale City, Virginia, Steve (Dorthy) Booker, Thomas (Blanca) Booker, and Willie Louis (Michelle) Booker of all Huntsville, AL; four loving daughters: Kathleen Suddeth of Madison, AL, Patricia Ann Sunford, Deborah Reid, and Shirley Anderson of all Huntsville, AL; two devoted brothers: Raymond (Marie) Jamar of Toney, AL and Ervin (Debra) Jamar of Madison, AL; grandchildren: Jerome (Lavell) Wallace of Huntsville, AL, Bryson (Shanika) Booker of Madison, AL, Brianna (Jarvis) Ramsey of Harvest, AL, Baylee Booker of Madison, AL ,Anjelica Jamar of Los Angeles, CA, Nicholas Terry-Booker and Angela Terry-Booker both of Dale City, VA, John Walker of Decatur, AL, Kristie Cosby and Stephanie Cosby of Athens, AL, Kenneth Davis of Huntsville, AL, Tammy (T.J.) Douglas, Darrius (Lori) Jamar of Orlando, FL, Brenda (Pastor Willie)Cosby-Pickett of Madison, AL; great grandchildren: Braelyn Ramsey and Jarvis “Mane Mane” Ramsey Jr, of Harvest, AL, Bryson Booker Jr. of Madison, AL, and Karsyn  Wallace of Huntsville, AL. Mother Booker is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives.

Mother Booker was under the care of her daughter, Kathleen Suddeth, and granddaughters: Baylee Booker and Angela Terry-Booker. As her health declined, her grandson Bryson Booker and his wife Shanika Booker took her in and provided her with around the clock care. She passed away surrounded by strength and love.

Mother Booker will be remembered by many for her big heart and her warm embrace. She loved her family.

 

Funeral service will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church (7565 Greenbrier Road, Madison, AL 35756) with Pastor Jarvis Jamar officiating. Interment will be in the Booker Family Property (13402 Honey Way, Madison, AL 35757). Mrs. Booker will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

Public viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2024 and 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Royal Funeral Home.
