Vinemont Man Dies In Two-Vehicle Accident That Injured Two Other Individuals

“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 4:23 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, has claimed the life of a Vinemont man.

Johnny D. McDonald, 83, was fatally injured when the 2017 Cadillac XT5 that he was a passenger in, was struck by a 2007 Toyota Tundra driven by Bertin P. Ortiz, 38, of Birmingham. McDonald and the driver of the Cadillac, Cynthia D. Goodwin, 57, of Cullman, were both injured and transported by helicopter to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

McDonald later succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital. Ortiz was also injured and transported to Cullman County Regional Hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred on Alabama 157 near South Johnson Chapel Road, approximately four miles south of Danville, in Morgan County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
