Vincent Michael Jaras, age 65, passed on November 2, 2017. Graveside services for Mr. Jaras will be at 1 PM Tuesday November 7 at Ashland City Cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kandye Noblin Jaras of Memphis, TN; cherished Aunts Ruth Akin of Ashland, MS and Neva Shappley of Madison, MS; several brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law – Keely/Paul Davidson of Bartlett, TN, Kimmory Hunt of Panama City, FL and Karen/JC Smith of Katy, TX; Nieces/nephew Brittney Davidson of Bartlett, TN & Kyndal & Brandon Peterson of Bartlett, TN; great-nephew/niece Brody Paul and Berkley Paige; and last but not least, even though an only child, Mike is survived by many cousins who were very special to him throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents Gerri Lee & Vincent Anthony Jaras of Memphis TN; his Aunt Dorothy Thornton of Ripley, MS; mother/father in-law Waymon/Linda Noblin of Panama City, FL; brother/sister-in-law George & Konnye Warren of Bartlett, TN and his beloved pets Bucky and Fancy.
Vincent Michael Jaras was born on March 29, 1952 in Pensacola, Florida. His father’s military career moved them to various locations during his childhood and the family eventually settled in Memphis, TN where Mike graduated from Christian Brothers High School. He studied at Memphis State University and then began his career at Union Pacific Railroad where he worked for 44 years. In 2014, he retired from the railroad as a Yard Master.
Mike was a loving and devoted husband to Kandye, and she has professed him to truly be the greatest love of her life. He enjoyed participating in various sports leagues – playing pool, bowling and softball as well as spending relaxing times at his lake house celebrating 4th of July holidays, enjoying fireworks and resting on the pontoon boat. His family and friends will always remember him as a very generous and giving man who loved them dearly.
