Vina teacher arrested for having sex with student

RUSSELLVILLE-  Sonny Dewaine Tibbs, 35  a former Vina high School girl’s basketball coach is currently being held in the Franklin County Detention Center under a $30,000 bail.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver Tibbs was arrested Friday and charged with having sex with a 17-year old   student.  Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested the Vina PE teacher at his home in Hamilton on Friday afternoon. He has been charged with three counts of a school employee having sexual intercourse with a student under 19.

Tibbs , according to Sheriff Oliver confessed  the relationship to investigators. Tibbs has been a Vina High School teacher for 9 years.
