Vicki Elizabeth Alford was called home to Heaven on Oct. 9, 2015, after suffering from chronic illness for the last several years. She was born on Aug. 31, 1948, in Minden, Nebraska, and grew up most of her younger life in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
She lived and worked her earlier adult life for Mid-Continent Life Insurance Company in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as a secretary. In 1995, she relocated to the Shoals to be closer to her only sister, Jodi, and worked as a secretary at her brother-in-law’s medical practice, Daniel J. Wenzl, M.D., in Muscle Shoals.
Vicki was a quiet, modest, kind soul who enjoyed travel, dining and attending local auctions with Jodi and Dan. She was a lifelong member of Amaranth, Eastern Star and the White Shrine. She was a member of the Sheffield First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed everything Disney especially Mickey Mouse.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Robert White, and mother, Elizabeth June Holmes Peachee.
She is survived by her sister, Jodi Wenzl (Dan); stepmother, Barbara White, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; niece, Roxanne Schlaver, of Biddeford, Maine; nephew, Timothy Sliger, of Atlanta; stepbrothers, Mickey Wick, Danny Wick (Cheryl) and Randy Wick (Jill); and most importantly, her constant feline companion, Blackie. She will be sorely missed by her family and those who knew her.
A graveside service will be performed by Strodes Funeral Service in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers any donations should be made to the charity of the giver’s choice.
