FLORENCE-The City of Florence is holding a Public Engagement Opportunity (Second Meeting) on Thursday, July 7, at 5:30 pm at the Broadway Recreation Center (300 N Broadway St, Florence, AL 35630).
The Veterans Drive corridor serves a multitude of roles including a gateway into the City, access to North Alabama Medical Center, and home to many long-time residents. The area also encompasses River Heritage Park and Patton Island Overlook—both nodes of the River Heritage Trail currently under construction with a completion date of June 2023. District 3 Council Member Bill Griffin emphasized, “I am looking forward to seeing the traffic issues addressed, and a master plan that reflects the new private investments in the district.”
The first public engagement meeting, held in January, allowed citizens to share their vision of the corridor with our team of design and transportation professionals. At the July 7th engagement, we will share the measurable data collected that, when coupled with the citizens’ vision, creates the basis for a master plan that addresses traffic issues and allows for positive, appropriate investment and reinvestment along the corridor and in the neighborhood.
