Vernon Bernard Mullins – Obituary

Vernon Bernard Mullins age 85 of Huntsville, AL passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at his residence.

Vernon is survived by his wife Poly Jones Mullins of 60 years; his son, Terry L. Mullins and wife Melanie; daughter, Cindy Mullins Cornwill and husband Larry; grandchildren Joshua Wayne Conwill and fiancée Karen Miskelly, Samuel Clayton Conwill and wife Amanda, Kristin Leigh Conwill, Mathew Joseph Mullins, Michael Ethan Mullins; one sister Elizabeth Wall, many nephews, nieces and friends.

Mr. Mullins retired from NASA with 32 years of service and received the Silver Snoopy Award. He was a member of East Huntsville Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was a Boy Scout Leader, Baseball and Softball coach and a Mason. Mr. Mullins also, designed many homes in the Huntsville and Madison County area.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Seaf Mullins, Halsey Mullins; brothers Harry Mullins, Edward Mullins, Edward Mullins and Dick Mullins; sisters Louise Smithy and Grace Seals.

Honoree pallbearers are Robert Jones, Lee Kilbourne, Steve Berry, Jimmy Preston and David Curry.

Funeral Services will be Friday, May 24th at 12 noon at Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville with Reverend Will Carter officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
