Verner "Tony" Bernard Lahti II - Humboldt, TNVerner Bernard “Tony” Lahti, 86, passed away on July 2, 2024, in Jackson, Tennessee. Born on February 10, 1938, in Iron County, Wisconsin, Tony led a life marked by diverse interests and accomplishments.

 

A man of many talents, Tony was an electrician by trade and an entrepreneur at heart. He owned an Italian deli in California and operated a charter boat on Lake Michigan. His favorite professional role was working as an electrical estimator for an electrical contractor. Tony’s life was also deeply rooted in his faith; he was a devout Christian, having been baptized as an adult. His love for travel and passion for musky fishing brought him great joy throughout his years.

 

Tony was a cherished figure in his community, known for his wonderful smile and friendly demeanor. He graduated from Hurley High School before attending Lake Forest College in Illinois, where he furthered his education.

 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara (Dunham) Lahti, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage, and their son, Verner Lahti III. Tony is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie (Perkins) Lahti; daughters, Kim Antinucci (Tony), Kerri Dunn (Kevin), and Kyle Rose Johnson; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Virginia (Ginger) Benninghoff, her children Kathy and Mike, his aunt Lila Sorvari, and a special cousin, Steve Sorvari.

 

In accordance with his final wishes, a private graveside ceremony was held. Those wishing to honor Tony’s memory may make contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.

 

Tony’s arrangements were entrusted to Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home, located in Humboldt, TN 38343. His legacy of kindness and zest for life will be remembered by all who knew him.
