Vernard “Vern” Elias Crouch, Sr., 77 of Union Grove, passed away Friday April 5, 2019 at Huntsville Hospital.
Mr. Crouch was born March 28, 1942 in Washington D.C. to Herbert Elias Crouch and Katherine Evaline Kohn Crouch. He and Martha Clair Thrower were married for 55 years. He worked as an agent for the CIA, worked in banking for 22 years, he helped organize two banks during his career and was instrumental in getting the first ATM’s installed in Alabama. He enjoyed life, loved singing, working, cooking, playing golf and spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of Morgan City Church of God.
Mr. Crouch is survived by his wife: Martha Thrower Crouch, his sons and daughters-in-law: Vernard Elias Crouch Jr. and Heidi, Alan DeWayne Crouch and Christy, Denny Scott Crouch, John Robert Crouch and Katrina; his brothers and sisters-in-law: William Bill Crouch and Becky, Carl Crouch and Rachel, David Crouch and Diane; his grandchildren: Austin Crouch, Trent Crouch, Erica Crouch, Alicyn Crouch, Nicholas Crouch, Wesley Crouch, Daniel Crouch, Ivan Crouch, Nolan Crouch and Tobin Crouch.
Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday April 9, 2019 at Morgan City Church of God with Brother Roland Cornwell, officiating. Burial will be in Rescue Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Trent Crouch, Nick Crouch, Wes Crouch, Daniel Crouch, Austin Crouch, Greg Crouch, Jason Crouch and Wade Thrower.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Ivan Crouch.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday April 8, 2019 at Morgan City Church of God.
