Verna Mae Weaver Ernst, age 92 of Tullahoma, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 15, 1929 to the late Earl and Wilma (Snell) Weaver of the Marble Plains Community. She was a retired Secretary, working for Tennessee Overall Company in Tullahoma, Killeen High School in Killeen, Texas, and then Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. Verna Mae was an author and had written a book about Marble Plains Church, Community and School titled “Down Memory Lane” as well as a children’s book, “Blackie the Angel Cow.” She had also written many poems and articles, some published in the National Library of Poetry as well as newspapers in Huntsville and Winchester. She was a life-long member and Historian for Marble Plains Church for many decades. Verna Mae loved the church and what it has stood for since its organization in 1857. She enjoyed cooking in her spare time, and many people enjoyed her angel food cake she would make for those in need. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband (marriage date, May 20, 1955), Frank H. Ernst Jr; and brother, J.C. Weaver. Verna Mae is survived by her son, Clay Ernst; daughter, Patti Hansen; grandchildren, Tia (Doug), and Trey (Sherri); sister, Kathaleen Isbell; sister-in-law, Emily (Bill) Branscome; nieces, Alene Cowan, Emma Jean Green, Terri McGhee; nephew, Barry Solomon; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be from 10am-12 pm on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Marble Plains Baptist Church with funeral services to follow at 12:00 pm with Bro. Jack Hice officiating.
