Verna Elizabeth Thorne, age 90, passed away Jan. 4, 2016. Visitation will be today from 10-11 a.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m., with Dr. Tom Whatley officiating.
Mrs. Thorne was a member of Central Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Thorne. She is survived by her children, Thomas Thorne (Bonita) and Mary Bowling (David); sister, Marcille Norton; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shoals Christian School.
