Verlee Jackson Sr.

Verlee Jackson Sr., 76, of Shannon, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021, at his home. He was born in Tchula, MS on February 22, 1945 to David Jackson Sr. and Larina Taylor Jackson. He graduated from Tchula Attendance Center in 1964 then went on to complete his associate’s degree at Perry State. He worked for LTV Steel for 26 years as a Forman and Master Welder. He was also owner of J’s BBQ and Grill. Mr. Jackson was a deacon at ST. John Missionary Baptist Church. His hobbies included cooking, building things, traveling, and spending time with loved ones.

He is survived by his wife Annie L. Jackson of Shannon; daughter, Stephanie Michelle Jackson- Taliaferro; sons, Verlee Jackson Jr., Corey D. Jackson, and Sean D. Jackson; sisters, Lueretha Jackson and Charlena Owens; brothers, David Jackson Jr., John R. Jackson, Robert D. Jackson, and Artha Jackson; grandchildren, China Jackson, Brandon Jackson, Koron Jackson, Imani Lewis, and Sean Jackson Jr. and four great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ozella Gant.

Funeral service will be at 12:00 pm on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Lee Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. John Cox officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park with Rev. Thomas Neal leading the committal service. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Verlee Jackson Jr., Corey Jackson, Sean Jackson, Brandon Jackson, Koron Jackson, and Sean Jackson Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Taliaferro and Shane Jones.

I extend my sincere condolences and pray that the family will find comfort and peace during this time. I have always thought of Verlee and Ann as a “living love story”. Hold fast to his memories.
