Vera Lee Stidham of Hackleburg, AL formally of Hodges, AL started her life with the Lord on March 02, 2015 at ECM Hospital in Florence, AL at the age of 85.
She was born July 16, 1929 in Belgreen, AL to Preston and Bessie Taylor. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Nonnie Stidham; one son, Harold K. Stidham; two sisters, Effie Wilson and Lurlie Summerl; brother, Jerry Taylor.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Stidham (Peggy) of Lakeland, FL, Jeff Stidham (Robin) of Hodges, AL; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Stidham of Hackleburg, AL; two sisters, Celestine Entrekin (Walter) and Shellie Whitehead both of Russellville, AL; three grandchildren, Jason Stidham of Hackleburg, AL, Jeremy Stidham of Hamilton, AL, and Jennifer McLemore (Chris) of Medina, TN; one step granddaughter, Aleisha Erwin; five great grandchildren, Shelby and Jackson Stidham, Isaiah, Andrew, and Ollie McLemore; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Stidham was a retired nurse having worked at Hamilton Hospital for many years. She loved gardening and spent countless hours tending to the many beautiful flowers in her yard. She also was an avid Alabama Football Fan and loved watching the Crimson Tide of television. Mrs. Stidham was a member of Hodges Church of Christ and loved her church family very much having been a member for over 60 years.
Mrs. Stidham (Mom) loved her family deeply. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy to watch as they grew up. She will be missed greatly but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. In her new life with the Lord she will be pain free and will enjoy peace and rest forever.
Visitation for Mrs. Stidham will be held Friday, March 06, 2015 from 6-9 pm at Hodges Church of Christ in Hodges, AL. viewing will be held from 1-2 pm on Saturday, March 07, 2015 at Hodges Church of Christ with services beginning at 2 pm. Steve Gober will officiate the service. Akins Funeral Home in Russellville will be in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Stidham, David Woodrough, Crayton Lawler, Jim Nichols, Chris McLemore, and Shannon Holland.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Stidham, Derryl Cantrell, Glenn Black, Ryan Tackett, Ronnie Holland, Truman Scott, Joe Stidham, Lynn Stidham, and Kent Overton.
