Vera Ann Strong, age 80 of Fort Payne, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at her residence. Mrs. Strong was born on March 23. 1943 in Fort Stockton, TX. She was a retired truck driver. She attended Little River Baptist Church and she loved animals.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
She is survived by her children, Denise (Joey) Henderson and Raye Ann (Mark) Helms; sister, Nancy Hammond; grandchildren, Jennifer (Sam) Fillingim, Christopher (Debra) Smith, Thomas Strong, Dustin (Ashley) Helms, Phillip (Amber) Henderson, Ryan Helms, Jaycee (Marc) Gipson, Chad (Kendra) Helms, and Dakota (Shelby) Henderson; 21 – great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Dana Strong; sister-in-law, Patsy (Paul) Tischhauser; brothers-in-law, Bob Strong and Rocky Strong; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Strong; children, Thomas Strong and Mitchell Strong; parents; brother, J.B. Mitchell; and brother-in-law, Sherman Hammond.
