Velma Kay Shockley, age 87 of Winchester, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, she was born on May 27, 1934, to the late Ollie and Gertrude (Robinson) Edwards. A dedicated homemaker, she cherished the time spent with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed having all of them over for family dinners and get togethers. Velma Kay will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and for the many ways, from dancing to dressing up with the children, she made all the moments together special. She had previously attended Westside Nazarene Church in Tullahoma, and presently attended Cowan Nazarene and Marble Plains Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, J.W. Pearson, and Lynnville Shockley; daughter, Shirley Chick; and siblings, Dorothy Berryhill, Nina Hill, Thomas Junior Edwards, and Carlie Edwards. Velma Kay is survived by her loving children, David Edwards of Decherd, Gary (Stacy) Edwards of Winchester, Joe W. (Pattie) Pearson of Winchester, James Pearson of Winchester, and Judy (Johnny) Trussell of Winchester; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Mildred Hazelwood of Winchester, Rethia Curtis of Tullahoma, and Ralph (Jane) Edwards of Cowan; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12-2 pm on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Funeral Services following at 2:00pm. Interment will be at Cowan Montgomery Cemetery.
