Velma Hester, age 89 of Cordova, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at her residence. Velma was owner/operator of Velma’s Truck Stop in Argo from 1962 until 1982.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel, with burial at Sardis Cemetery on the River Road. Don Painter will officiate.
Mrs. Hester was preceded in death by her Father-Clifford Banks; Mother-Pearl Garner Banks; Father of her children-Rose Hester; Son-Ronnie Hester.
She is survived by her Daughter-Johnnie Bea Yealock(Carl) of Jasper; Son-Ric Hester (Sherry) of Dora; Sister-Betty Jo Brown of Jasper; Grandchildren-Brackie Bonds, Jina Lane, Candi Whitmore, Breanna Hester; Great Grandchildren-Shane Hester, Jesse Bonds, Nevaeh Whitmore, Gideon Whitmore; Great-Great Grandchild-Zander Hester; Host of special nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be AC Lane, Johnny Wayne Banks, Billy Doss, Jesse Bonds, Shane Hester, Randy Brown.
