Velia Mae Belk Hankey, 92, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Church Street Manor in Ecru, MS. Born on September 20, 1931, to Mark and Mattie Pettit Belk, she dedicated a number of years working for Nokia in Kansas City, Kansas, before retiring to Pontotoc County, MS. She will be fondly remembered, especially for her love for her dogs, Cindy and Petey.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sue Belk, and several cousins, including Barbara W. Walden, her cousin and caregiver.
A graveside service is scheduled for Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 3 PM at Hartwell Tutor Cemetery, with Bro. Tommy Inmon officiating. Visitation is set for Saturday, September 7, from 6-8 PM at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, which is handling the arrangements.
