FLORENCE-The popular indie rock band Velcros Pygmies has planned a memorial concert for Jeremiah and Jacob Sanders on Saturday, September 24 at McFarland Park in Florence. The show, which is free and open to the public (all ages), will start at sundown with the park open at 7 p.m. for a meet and greet.
Jacob and Jeremiah were brothers who died in a boating accident on Pickwick Lake in March. Jacob was the bassist for the Velcro Pygmies and Jeremiah was the general manager of Ricatoni’s in Florence.
“This event is a chance for us to promote the idea of living everyday to its fullest,” said Velcro Pygmies front man Cameron Flener. “Because as we so tragically learned, you never know when your time is up. This event is for the fans. And that’s why it’s all ages and 100 percent free.”
There will also be a “Tribute Room” featuring memorabilia, fan letters and photos, in the Gallery of the Florence/Lauderdale Visitor Center in McFarland Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 24.
For more information on the concert, call the Florence/Lauderdale Tourism Office at 256-740-4141.
