Van Renie Buchanan, 68, of Iuka, Mississippi, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. Van was a jokester and a character that was loved by many. He could usually be found chewing on his cigars and being goofy. Van is survived by his brother, Joseph R. “Jug” Buchanan (Brenda); his nieces and nephews, Amanda Pryce-Jones (David), Debbie Jo Buchanan, Randy Buchanan, and Andrea Buchanan; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Cory Buchanan, Tiffany Pryce-Jones, Jonathan Buchanan (Caitlin), Austin Pryce-Jones, Brianna Thompson, Carson Mayhall, Bryson Pryce-Jones, Jaxson Pryce-Jones, Greenlee Buchanan, and Eli Buchanan; his great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Charlee Buchanan, Bentlee Buchanan, Hadlee Buchanan, and Greyson Dengler; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Ruth Buchanan Baker and Joseph Robert Buchanan, Sr.; and his nephew, Tim Buchanan. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Van’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
