SHEFFIELD – Longtime Sheffield resident and business professional Bryan R. Van
Devender has officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of Sheffield in the August
2025 election. A 1988 graduate of Sheffield High School, Van Devender brings 20 years
of experience in sales and marketing and 15 years in digital development and systems
automation—a combination of skills that he believes will help modernize Sheffield’s
government, attract new business, and create opportunities for residents.
Van Devender has outlined a clear vision for the city, focusing on redevelopment,
revenue growth, and critical upgrades to municipal systems and services. However, his
priority is addressing one fundamental issue: cleaning up Sheffield.
“The city must clean its own house before we can expect everyone else to do the
same,” said Van Devender. “That means accountability at every level of city
government, a renewed focus on public spaces and infrastructure, and a commitment to
restoring civic pride. Only then can we truly move Sheffield forward.”
