FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department issued an UPDATE on the hit-and-run accident that occurred on Chisholm Road on December 20 where a Florence woman died from her injuries:
“On December 20, 2021, at approximately 5:10 P.M., Florence Police received a call of a person down on Chisholm Road south of Rasch Road. Upon arrival, officers located Lori Lynne Avery, 56, deceased. It appears Avery was struck by a passing vehicle. Debris from the scene was collected and reconstructed. It was determined the parts were from a Nissan Altima.
On Sunday, December 26, 2021, Officer N. White located a vehicle, 2007 Altima, in the 100 block of South Kirkman Street. The vehicle had damage consistent with a collision.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the car, and it was towed to the Florence Police Department, where it was processed. This is still an ongoing investigation, and we are still in the process of identifying the driver.
