THE SHOALS-February is going out with a bang and March looks to be a hotbed of fun and activity.  Check out all there is to see and do in the Muscle Shoals area.

February 1-March 12, 2022 – Tim Stevenson: The Past 30 Years, Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, 511

N Water St, Tuscumbia. TVMA is proud to host this exciting exhibition featuring 30 years of artwork by Florence artist Tim Stevenson. A native-born Alabama artist, Tim Stevenson has been painting for over fifty years in the tradition of the ‘Old Masters’(Vermeer and Rembrandt). A self-taught artist who ‘drew pictures for cookies’ at age three, he worked in cartooning, advertising, illustration, and billboard painting on his way to become one of the country’s finest landscape and representational painters. February 26, 2022 – firekid: Muscle Shoals Metaphysical, Ritz Theatre, 111 W 3rd St, Sheffield. Firekid returns to the Shoals with this first performance in their tour for their new album, Muscle Shoals Metaphysical. Show starts at 7:30pm. Concessions available. March 5, 2022 – Charlotte’s Web, Ritz Theatre, 111 W 3rd St, Sheffield. Don’t miss this year’s children’s theater program (Time Out for Theatre) production of E.B. White’s classic Charlotte’s Web! Children in the audience get to see their peers perform and experience the transformative power of stories told on stage. March 12, 2022 – Huff ‘N’ Puff on the Bluff 15K/5K, Sheffield Rec. Center, 2901 19th Ave,   Sheffield,  presented by Junior League of the Shoals and Tennessee River Athletics Club (TRAC).  Race begins at 8am with awards at 10:30am. Info, registration, & course maps:  www.huffnpuff.itsyourrace.com 

March 12, 2022 – James Gregory LIVE! Ritz Theatre, 111 W 3rd St, Sheffield. Storytelling at its best – the trademark caricature is the essence of humorist James Gregory’s comedy: rib-tickling reflections on life from the front porch. “My comedy is based on my life experiences. It’s real, it’s funny, and the audience loves it. That’s why I’m still in business.” He is a regular on many syndicated radio shows and has appeared in concert with a variety music artists. March 17, 2022—Muscle Shoals Music: Songwriters in the Round, Champy’s, 120 E 2nd St, Muscle Shoals. Local songwriter and Wishbone Studio owner Billy Lawson will host and emcee the show each month. He will be accompanied by an array of songwriters, both well established and up-andcoming talent. Come hear the music and stories from the  original artists. This free event will be held 7-9pm each month. Sponsored by Colbert County Tourism & Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area.

 March 19-April 30, 2022 – Darshan: Visions of India, featuring art exhibitions, an outdoor festival,   performances, discussions, and workshops at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art in Tuscumbia and the Ritz Theatre in Sheffield. Full schedule coming soon. Info: www.tennesseevalleyarts.org

March 19, 2022— Darshan Opening Festival, TVMA, 511 N Water St, Tuscumbia.  Outside, on The Commons in front of the museum:  hands– on art activities; demonstrations and workshops including yoga and dance; a stage with rotating dance, music, and storytelling; samples of Indian snacks; evening bonfire and ceremony celebrating the Indian festival of Holi. Festival will be 2pm-sundown. (Rain location for the outdoor events will be the Ritz Theatre.) Inside the museum: free admission for the opening of our Darshan exhibitions, artist meet & greet with Amita Bhakta and several Indian American artists exhibiting in the invitational.
