FLORENCE — Kilby Laboratory School and Collier Library Archives and Special Collections will host a “Happy Birthday, Alabama” event Friday, April 26, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Collier Library. This official Alabama Bicentennial event is free and open to the public.
“We’re so fortunate to have this opportunity to work with the fourth graders from Kilby,” said Interim University Librarian Derek Malone.
Kilby students in Argie Campbell’s class have worked with university librarians to research several Alabama events and historical figures. The students have created a display of memorabilia from the archives to highlight at the birthday celebration. Attendees can also interact with Kilby students participating in a living museum event where students assume the role of significant people from Alabama’s history.
