UNA’s Commencement Ceremonies Honor Outstanding Graduates

FLORENCE– Several graduates from the recent commencement ceremonies at the University of North Alabama were honored as part of the event. The Turris Fidelis Key was presented to two students, and eight students received the Keller Key award.

 

“These are the highest honors conferred on graduating seniors at the University,” said Dr. Ross Alexander, Provost and Executive Vice President at UNA. “They acknowledge the years of academic and extracurricular achievement these individuals have worked toward throughout their careers at UNA, and it is something about which they can take pride for years to come.”

 

The Turris Fidelis Key is awarded to a graduating senior on the basis of outstanding service to the University and scholastic achievement. Recipients of this award are selected by a committee of faculty, staff, and students. This year’s recipients are:

  • Rachel Marie Hill, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis on Social Science. She has a 4.0 grade point average.
  • Samuel Mashburn, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Political Science and minors in Public Administration, Public Communication, and Legal Studies. He has a 3.9 GPA.

 

The Keller Key is awarded at each commencement to graduating seniors who have achieved the highest scholastic standards while at UNA. Eight students were honored for their academic achievement. They are:

  • Meredith N. Daniel, of Double Springs, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Mass Communications. On a scale of 4.00, her GPA is 4.00.
  • Abagail Johnson Gorbatoff, of Florence, graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work degree with a major in Social Work. On a scale of 4.00, her GPA is 4.00.
  • Chloe Elise Green, of Athens, graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting. On a scale of 4.00, her GPA is 4.00.
  • Rachel Marie Hill, of Alabaster, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Secondary Education. On a scale of 4.00, her GPA is 4.00.
  • Maria Claire Kerstiens, of Summertown, Tenn., graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a major in Secondary Education. On a scale of 4.00, her GPA is 4.00.
  •  Allie Grace Roberts, of Guntersville, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English. On a 4.00 scale,   her GPA is 4.00.
  • Ian Conner Romine, of Somerville, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Sociology. On a 4.00 scale, his GPA is 4.00.
