Two-Year-Old Child Dies From September 6th Auto Accident

traffic fatality 01RUSSELLVILLE-Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a traffic fatality from a two car accident that happened on Sunday, September 6:

“A two-vehicle crash at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, has claimed the life of a Russellville child. Johana Vargas, 2, was seriously injured when the 2007 Jeep Compass in which she was a passenger collided with a 2000 Ford F-150 on Franklin County 724 at the intersection of Franklin County 83. Vargas was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where she died at 11:43 a.m. today, Sept. 15. The driver of the Jeep Compass, Juan Carlos Vargas, 27, and passengers, Anna Vargas, 40, and Gael Vargas, 3, all of Russellville, were transported to Russellville Hospital. The driver of the Ford F-150, Allen Cole Pickens, 63, and passenger Karen Pickens, 58, both of Mount Hope, were also transported to Russellville Hospital. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.”
