Two-Vehicle Accident Takes Life Of One Person Injures Three Others

DEKALB COUNTY-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a two-vehicle accident that has taken the life of one person and sent three others to hospital:

“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 10:21 p.m. Saturday, September 28, has claimed the life of a Boaz man.

Apolinario T. Velasquez, 26, was fatally injured when the 2018 Nissan Versa he was driving was struck by the 2004 GMC Envoy driven by an 18-year-old. After the initial impact, both vehicles left the roadway. The Nissan overturned and was then struck again by the GMC. Velasquez was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 18-year-old and a 16-year-old passenger in the GMC were both injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment. The passenger in the Nissan, Felipe Raymundo, 21, of Albertville, who was not using a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred on Alabama 75 near Dekalb County 24, approximately four miles south of Geraldine, in Dekalb County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
