Two-Vehicle Accident Takes Life Of Cherokee Man

TUSCUMBIA-At 11:18 today January 24, a tractor trailer vs. automobile crash occurred on Highway 72 east of the Sprint Mart and about ½ mile east of Old Lee Highway. There was one fatality in the automobile.

The driver killed in the crash this morning was Simeon Michael Malone, age 19 of Cherokee Alabama. Simeon was a graduate of Deshler High School, He was driving a 2013 Toyota Camry traveling westbound on Highway 72 near the Sprint Mart. The driver of the tractor trailer was Rebecca Lynn Stutts, age 46 of Arab Alabama. She was attempting to turn into the eastbound lane of Highway 72 when the crash occurred. The driver of the truck was not injured. The crash took place during an extremely heavy downpour of rain. The crash is being investigated by the Tuscumbia Police Department.
