LACEY SPRINGS-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a two-vehicle accident that has taken the life of one person and sent another person to hospital:
“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:56 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, has claimed the life of a Huntsville man.
Robert R. Barnes Jr., 90, was critically injured when the 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis that he was driving was struck by the 2008 Porsche Cayenne driven by Jorge E. Pedraza, 43, of Arab. After the initial impact, the Mercury left the roadway and struck a ditch. Barnes was injured and transported to Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Pedraza was also injured and transported by helicopter to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on U.S. 231 near Old Silo Road, approximately five miles south of Lacey Springs, in Morgan County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
