Two-Vehicle Accident Claims Life Of Florence Man And Injures Two Others

MOULTON-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a two-vehicle accident near Moulton that has taken the life of one person and injured two other individuals:

“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12 a.m. Sunday, May 28, has claimed the life of a Florence man and injured two others.

Kendall Lee Dean, 48, was fatally injured when the 2014 Ford Focus that he was driving collided head-on with a 2004 GMC Yukon driven by Hugo Armando-Roman Ortiz, 33, of Decatur. Dean was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Hugo Armando-Roman Ortiz, 33, of Decatur was injured and transported by helicopter to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. The passenger of the GMC, Fernando Jose-Portillo Mariano, 22, of Decatur, was also injured and transported to North Alabama Medical Center for treatment. 

The crash occurred on Alabama 157 near Lawrence County 150, approximately eight miles north of Moulton, in Lawrence County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
