TVA Working to Distribute Safe Drinking Water to Communities Impacted by Shortages due to Winter Storm

TENNESSEE VALLEY-When there are emergency events, severe weather, and instances that require urgent outreach, TVA works to determine what resources are available to offer support to our communities.

Throughout this winter weather event, TVA’s emergency preparedness staff and Regional Relations Team remained in contact with the North Alabama Mutual Aid Association to assess the needs of communities impacted by the extremely cold conditions. After receiving requests from elected officials and EMAs in communities that were encountering water shortages and boil advisories, TVA worked to quickly facilitate the delivery of cases safe drinking water.

The efforts started on Friday, continued through the weekend, and resumed on Monday. TVA was able to fulfill these requests in less than 24 hours and ~6,500 cases are being distributed. Below are the details of the communities that made requests and how much they received.
