TVA Says Highest Peak Megawatts At 34,500…Please Continue To Conserve Energy

TVA’s electric grid is stable and our generating facilities are performing well.

At 8:00AM CST today, the Valley set a preliminary all-time, record peak of approximately 34,500 MW at 4 degrees. The previous TVA all-time record was 33,482 MW in August of 2007.

Extremely cold temperatures across the region continue to drive up the demand for electricity. The TVA electric grid is stable, and our generating facilities are performing well.
With the cold weather persisting through the weekend, that will continue to drive up demand and so our request remains the same to customers to conserve energy.

Reset your thermostat
Set it to 78F in the summer and 68F in the winter.

Lower your water heater temperature to 120F.

Reset your fridge temperature
Set the fridge to 35-38F and the freezer to 0-5F.
