KNOXVILLE, TN– The Tennessee Valley Authority has issued a Request for Proposal for energy and capacity to help meet the region’s growing demand for electricity while maximizing grid reliability. Proposals must be submitted by June 21, 2024.

Proposals must be for 50 megawatts to 500 megawatts for various periods through December 2029. The RFP is for any type of generation that meets the definition of Firm Generation Resource or Firm System Commitment as defined in the RFP.   Proposals should complement TVA’s existing generation resources and be delivered to the TVA service area. Respondents may review TVA’s request for proposal at https://www.tva.com/information/doing-business-with-tva.

TVA is a national leader in carbon reduction with nearly 60% carbon-free energy provided to a region growing three times faster than the national average. The University of Tennessee’s Baker School projects a 22% growth in the region by 2050. TVA is meeting the region’s energy challenge through a multi-prong approach of (1) building additional clean, efficient generation and (2) reducing consumption by 30% over the next 10 years by investing in energy efficiency and demand responds programs.
