RUSSELLVILLE- TVA and local dignitaries dedicated a new fishing and recreation pier at Little Bear Creek, in Franklin County, Alabama Monday, October 17, 2022. The new pier is part of TVA’s efforts to promote recreation at the Little Bear Creek Dam Reservation.
Derek South, TVA Natural Resources talked about the pier and the improvements that have been made to promote recreation and tourism in the area.
The pier is an arrow shape in reference to the original pier that was built during the construction of the reservoir. The pier is concrete and steel construction and is about 120-feet long.
This area is a popular destination for fishing and bird watching and the pier is a perfect location for both. The pier is ADA compliant and the park offers other recreation opportunities with several new picnic and grill facilities.
According to a 2017 University of Tennessee study, TVA lakes generate about $12 billion in economic value and about 130,000 jobs annually.
