TVA sealKNOXVILLE-TVA has announced 16 high school graduates who are recipients of the TVA Employee Dependent Scholarships for 2014.

Eight of the scholarships, worth up to $5,000 per year and renewable for up to four additional years, are for four-year baccalaureate degrees. The other eight scholarships, worth up to $2,500 and renewable for one additional year, are for two-year associate degrees.

The TVA Employee Dependent Scholarship Program was created in 1994 to reward excellence in academics by providing financial assistance to college-bound dependents of TVA employees.

The scholarships are merit-based, taking into account applicants’ high school grade-point averages, standardized test scores, and leadership/extracurricular activities and honors/distinctions, as well as alignment with TVA workforce needs according to an applicant’s declared college major.
