TUSCUMBIA-Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan released a statement concerning the murder of a Tuscumbia woman on Thursday, August 11 at 114 Monroe Drive in Tuscumbia:
“This morning at 11:34, the Tuscumbia Police Department responded to 114 Monroe Drive in Tuscumbia to a possible dead body. Once arriving on scene and making entry, officers located the body of a white female in one of the bedrooms. Once the residence was cleared and officers made sure that there were no other persons in the house the home immediately became a crime scene.
Due to the fact that the residence was in close proximity to Helen Keller Hospital, the Colbert County Health Department, Deshler High School and Deshler Middle School the request was made to place these locations under lock down until officers on scene determined that these locations were not under an immediate threat.
The victim is identified as Jennifer Parrish age 33 originally of Florence. She has been living at the residence in recent months. Officers did observe the victim was covered in blood and injuries consistent with stab wounds. Immediate family members have been notified and her body has been sent to Huntsville for an autopsy.
At approximately 2:41pm a person of interest in this case was located and taken into custody. At the time of this release, he has NOT been formally charged with the death of Jennifer Parrish. This is a very active investigation at this time and further updates will be released as soon as available. The name of the suspect in this case has not been released pending consultation with the Colbert County District Attorney’s Office.
The Tuscumbia Police Department wishes to thank the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office and surrounding law enforcement agencies for their assistance on scene and throughout the day.”
