TUSCUMBIA-The annual Veterans’ Day Parade will be held in Tuscumbia on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. The parade will begin at Deshler High School,proceed from Main Street, south to 6 th Street, west to Water Street, then north to 4 th Street, and end at the Colbert County Courthouse. Anyone with a military vehicle is asked to participate in the parade and should arrive no later than 9:30 to form the line-up. All Military Reserve and National Guard Units are encouraged
to participate.
The parade will be followed at 11:00 a.m. by a program on the courthouse lawn, presented by the American Legion Post 31. The keynote speaker for the program will be the Rev. Norman Simmons. The parade and the program are held
each year in recognition of the service of all United States Veterans, past and present.
The public is invited to attend the Veterans Day activities along with a meal (donated by Mr. L.O. Bishop) at the Church of Christ Annex located at the corner of 4 th and Main St.
In the event of inclement weather, the parade will be cancelled, and the program will proceed as planned in the Church of Christ Annex building.
Post 31 is spearheading a drive to purchase gift bags for area Veterans in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Colbert County. Donations may be mailed to American Legion Post 31, 110 N. Main Street Tuscumbia, AL 35674,
or may be given at the Church of Christ Annex during festivities on Nov. 10 th .
