Celebration of Life for Truby Aderholt Selby, age 84, of Decatur, will be 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Faith Baptist Church with Bro. Scott Delashaw and Hilda Delgado officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will be in Midway Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Selby died June 14, 2024, at her residence surrounded by family who were quoting Psalm 23 when she took her last breath. She was born December 6, 1939, in Alabama to Otto Eugene Aderholt and Beatrice I.V. Defoor Aderholt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Selby, and her parents. Truby was dearly loved by her famly and many close friends. She often brought laughter to them all with her playful pranks. She was one of the best cooks in the South–no one could pass up her homemade pies, meatloaf, honey ham, green beans, and strawberry jelly. And she used her cooking skills to bless countless others in times of sickness or sadness, and on ordinary days for no special reason at all. She always shined with natural beauty, hair fixed, nails painted, and clothes that glittered. A member of Faith Baptist Church, her faith in Jesus took top priority in her life. She raised her kids to know Him and often shared Him with those around her, whether acquaintance or stranger. She will truly be missed by the Selby Family. We are thankful we will see her again one day in Heaven.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Selby; two daughters, Becky Alexander (Tim) and Cindy Cunningham (Phillip); sister, Gail Aderholt Rainwater (Otis); four grandchildren, Cassie Harlow (Chris), Isaac Alexander, Hallie Cunningham, and Sophia Selby; and two great-grandchildren, Sadie Harlow and Chloe Harlow.
Celebration music will be provided by Bro. Phil Lawrence and Kirk Terry.
Pallbearers will be Joe Brazier, Phillip Cunningham, Scott Goss, Chris Harlow, John Landers, and Mark Montgomery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, P. O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602, 256-350-5585. This heroic organization cared for Truby and her family with skill and loving kindness in her final days.
