Funeral for Troy “Pop” Kerby, 84, of Trinity will be today, September 10, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shane Williams and Rev. Kermit Owens officiating. Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Kerby, who died Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born November 30, 1928, in Lawrence County to Floyd and Addie Kerby. Troy was a member of Oak Grove FCM Church. He worked 27 years at Chemstrand/Monsanto. Pop was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved to farm, fish and travel with his wife and son. Pop’s favorite times were spent with his family together for the holidays. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his twin brother, Roy Kirby.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Kerby; four sons, Philip “Doc” Kerby, Kenny Kerby (Shelia), Mike Kerby (Kim) and Sam Kerby (Linda); one daughter, Ann Peebles (Kenneth); one sister, Dorothy Jeffreys; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
