Troy P. Smart, age 40, of Madison, AL, has lost his long battle with cancer and crossed over the River to be with the Lord on May 11, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Lt. Col. Richard W. Smart. Troy is survived by his Mother, Margaret Smart Sanders (Doc), two sons (Tyler and Nelson), one daughter, Emily, Sister Deanne Clark (Tim), Brother Michael (Lauren), Uncle Bill (Cathy), and Aunt Phyllis. Other survivors include numerous relatives in the Smart, Mase, Zeller, and Dineen families.
While attending Calhoun Community College he was an active member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. A short stint in the Army found him serving his country in counter intelligence. Most of Troy’s professional career was spent in management positions in the restaurant industry. His leisure times were spent as an avid Civil War reenactor in the local group, the 19th Alabama Volunteer Infantry, Company I (given his affinity for military history), motorcycling with local groups, travel (his last trip was abroad to South America); and, he was a big Karaoke talent in Madison.
Troy will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his selflessness, and above all else for his Love of family. He had unconditional love for his three children, and always put others before himself.
Laughlin Funeral Home Chapel is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 2:00-3:00pm followed by a memorial service at 3:00pm. Troy will be interred at Maple Hill Cemetery
