Troy Dwight Priest of New Market went to be with the Lord on Thursday.  He was 59.

Troy was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.   He was also a Christian and a faithful member of the Mountain View Holiness Church.

Troy was born and raised as a logger in Madison County and spent his entire life here.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Lavinia Priest;  his father-in-law, Dickey Ray Moore;  his brother-in-law, Ray Moore.

Surviving family members include his wife of 36 years, Janet Moore Priest; his daughters and sons-in-law, Skyler & Jordan Barnett, Anna & Clay Middlebrooks, and Mady & Evan Mahathey; his granddaugter, Amelia Claire Mahathey;  his mother-in-law, Sue Moore;  his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kerri & Jerry Hill; his sister-in-law, Dana Moore.  He is also survived by a host of nieces  and nephews who loved him, and by his beloved dog, Ollie.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4pm until 9pm at Mountain View Holiness Church.  Funeral services will be Sunday at 2pm at the church with Reverend Bruce Brazier, Reverend Matt Long, and Brother Richie Cothren officiating.   Burial will follow the service and will be in Britton Cemetery.

Troy will be remembered for his love for everyone around him – never meeting a stranger, being a friend to all, and never talking bad about anyone.  He was the best girl dad and was the life of the party wherever he went.

Hazel Green Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
