LAUDERDALE COUNTY-Lauderdale County sheriff’s Office issued a statement concerning the arrest of two suspects after a trespassing call on Tuesday, June 20:
“On 6/20/2023, deputies with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 16000 block of County Road 14 to a person trespassing on private property. As the deputies were responding, they were advised that the offender entered into a gold Jeep Cherokee and was leaving the area.
As the initial deputy arrived in the area, he noticed a gold Jeep
matching the description that was given out, parked at a business a short distance from where the call originated. Deputies made contact with the occupants of the vehicle and identified them as Ramsey Swafford, Jason Baskins, and two other individuals. Swafford held two active warrants with the Florence Police Department and was removed from the vehicle for said warrants. Swafford was searched incident to his arrest and a glass pipe along with methamphetamine was located on his person.
After further investigation and search of the vehicle, deputies located a bag containing a scale and 69 grams of methamphetamine. It was determined that Jason Baskins was the owner of the vehicle, and he was charged with trafficking methamphetamine.
Other items located in the vehicle included two handguns, 1 pair of brass knuckles, ammunition, and other drug paraphernalia.
