THE SHOALS – Travis Wammack and The Snakeman Band will perform in the lobby of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame on Tuesday September 23 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.00 and are available at the museum.
“The Alabama Music Hall of Fame will have a Rockin’ Good Time when Travis Wammack and The Snakeman Band shake things up in the lobby of the museum,” said Dixie Griffin. “If you like Rock n’ Roll, you will love the show that Travis puts on and you will have an opportunity to see the new Wammack display in the museum,” Griffin said.
Wammack, a guitarist known for his studio work as well live performance, has been a resident of the Shoals area since the 1960s when he began working with Rick Hall at FAME Studios. He has worked in the studio with artists such as Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Little Richard, Mac Davis and the Osmonds, among others.
A native of Walnut, MS, Travis Wammack, grew up in Memphis, TN. where he began recording for Fernwood Records at age 12. By his mid-teens he moved to ARA Records where he recorded the Rock and Roll instrumental, “Scratchy.”
In the ’70s, Wammack hit the charts with two singles released on FAME Records, then moved to Capricorn Records where he released “(Shu-Doo-Pa-Poo-Poop) Love Being Your Fool,” which reached the Top 40.
In the 1990s, Wammack began working with Rock and Roll Innovator Little Richard, serving as band leader for over a decade.
Wammack is a member of the Memphis Music Hall of Fame, was inducted into the Southern Legends Entertainment and Performing Arts Hall of Fame and the Rock-a-Billy Hall of Fame. He was also received the Professional Musician Award from the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, and was recognized by Gibson Guitars for his work with the Gibson 335 guitar.
