On Monday, November 27, 2023, Travis Rutherford “Peanut” Brady, 79, resident of Ripley, passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo surrounded by family.
Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Brady will be at 2 PM Thursday, November 30 in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Smith and Bro. Keith Fox officiating. Visitation will be from 4 PM – 9 PM Wednesday, November 29 and will continue from 9 AM until service time on Thursday. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery.
Born June 11, 1944, Peanut is the son of the late Joe and Mary Rutherford Brady and married his beloved wife, Mary Ellen Otterson Brady on September 28, 1968, who survives. A member of Trinity Assembly of God, Peanut attended Falkner High School and worked for many years in the furniture industry for Ashley Furniture and proudly owned and operated B&B Game Farms in Ripley. A hard-working family man, with a kind heart, Peanut will be remembered as a man of few words who was always willing to lend a helping hand. A God-fearing man, his favorite pastimes included gospel quartet music, westerns, Atlanta Braves Baseball, but his passion was raising game chickens.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is also survived by two sons, Terry “Peanut” Brady (Susie) and Tony Brady (Georgiana) of Ripley, five sisters, Juanita Estridge, Helen Roberts, Shirley Kirkland, Lutie Willingham, and Doris McAlister, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He is also preceded in death by a son, Teddy Brady, a sister, Joyce Bryant, and five brothers, John, Jeff, Benton, Roy and Charles Brady.
