Travis Ray Schollian  Travis Ray Schollian, 92, of Athens, AL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on March 22, 2023.

Travis was born on October 22, 1930, in Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from West End High School and went on to graduate from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) with a degree in engineering in 1955. In 1956 he married Kathleen Waters Schollian, and they had 3 children: Ray Schollian (Trish), Alan Schollian (Donna), Linda Schollian. After Kathleen’s death in 1966, Travis married Jean McKenzie. Together they raised his 3 children and her 4 children Patricia Ryel (Richard), Elaine Woolsey (Steve), Randy McKenzie (Pat), Sherry Boyd (Richard).

Later in life, he met and fell in love with Mary Gray Schollian, and they married in 1988. In 1992, Travis retired as the president of M&D Mechanical Contractors in Decatur, AL. He and Mary enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.

Travis was an avid outdoorsman as well as a talented woodworker and craftsman. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family at his beloved cabin on Lake Martin.

Our Travis was a quick witted, humble, man of God who loved big and never turned down a hug.

Travis is survived by his seven children, twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen, sisters, nieces and nephews, grandson Shaan Ryel, and wife Mary Gray Schollian.

A casual Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 2:00pm in the Beasley Center Athens FUMC.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to Hospice of Limestone County, who took wonderful care of him during his final weeks.
