Travis Leon Pierce, known to friends and family as Rabbit, died peacefully at the age of 77 on May 29, 2022 at the Tennessee State Veteran’s Home in Humboldt, TN after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Pierce was born December 9, 1944 in Chester County, Tennessee to the late Willie and Janet Pierce. He was a retired employee of Yellow Freight, Inc and was a truck driver for over 30 years during his trucking career. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 and was also a Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed riding horses, camping, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Pierce and Jimmy Faye Pierce; and two sisters, Peggy Tomes and Hazel Staples.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sherry Dudley Pierce; his children, Kelly Pierce Hatch (Patrick) of Henderson, TN, William Travis Pierce “Frog” (Christina) of Jackson, TN; Niki Fesmire (Brandon) of Jackson, TN ; Alana Lewis (Michael) of Dallas, Texas and Shelby Campbell (Andrew) of Lexington, TN; his grandchildren, Josh Hatch (Mikayla Sheppard) of Conroe, Texas, Trevor Hatch of Henderson, TN, Corbin Fesmire of Jackson, TN, Mikaylee Lewis of Dallas, Texas, Ariana Lewis or Dallas Texas, Austin Pierce of Jackson, TN, Easton McGee of Lexington, TN, Cannon Fesmire of Jackson, TN, Ryker Campbell of Lexington, TN, Xaria Lewis of Dallas, Texas, EllieAnn Campbell of Lexington, TN, and Brittney Joseph (Jonathan) of Jackson, TN; his great grandchild, Reece Hatch of Conroe, Texas; and his sister, Ramona Pounds (Kerry) of Pinson, TN.

Memorial services for Rabbit will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Big Springs United Methodist Church, 849 Ozier Rd., Pinson. The family will receive friends following the service until 4 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

Honorary Pallbearers are Marty Pierce, Joey Pierce, Reggie Pierce, Tim Tomes, Burt Staples, Lowell Beller, Tommy Laney, Danny Avery, Larry Murchison, Joe Parker; and special friends, Don and Stacey Clayton and Renee Parker.
